At the end of October, the finals of the project «The path to absolute victory» were held in Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk. Former undisputed world boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. has personally visited two cities in order to select the best guys in his team. «The path to absolute victory» was launched on September 15 and covered two regions - the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Irkutsk Region. Note that in implementing this idea, Jones Jr. was supported by the +7 Fund. The selection went on within a month, and in total more than 400 people became participants. Following the finals, Jones Jr. selected 20 people (10 from each region). In 2020, training camps in Moscow are waiting for them.
«Roy Jones put on boxing gloves 44 years ago, he reached the heights of both amateur and professional boxing, — chairman of the +7 fund’s board of trustees Timofey Kurgin says. — But his love for this sport remains the same, so after the end of his speeches, he decided to devote himself to the younger generation. He has vast experience and is ready to share it. Over the past 8 years, Roy quite often came to Russia, and more than once heard about Siberia and the fact that there are a lot of talents, but not many opportunities to prove yourself as a beginner boxer. For him, this was a real challenge - to go to Siberia in search of a new professional boxing star. The fact that he himself looked through all the applications and personally came to select the guys in his team, indicates the seriousness of his attitude to this project. Sport is one of the activities of the +7 Fund, and we are pleased to cooperate with such a distinguished athlete as Roy Jones Jr. We hope this project will show that beginning boxers have real chances to be noticed and succeed».
